Background
- Hypertension is a major non- communicable disease.
- It causes high morbidity and mortality (9.4 million deaths each year worldwide ).
- Negative impact on quality of life and economy.
- Mankind has probably never experienced such a devastating epidemic (Poulter, et al., 2015)
Rationale
- To identify New cases of Hypertensive patients.
- Currant information on hypertension and its risk factors is few and available as estimates of WHO.
- Provide basic data to assess the intervention programs.
- Hypertension survey will give precise data and allow better planning and usage of resources.
The Survey
- International society of hypertension (ISH) proposed conducting a global cross-sectional blood pressure measurement of adults aged ≥ 18.
- To measure Blood pressure of 25 million Worldwide.
- 100 countries are participating in MMM.
- Sitting blood pressure will be measured in triplicate ?? according to standardized specified methods.
The Main Objective
- To measure the blood pressure of Adult population + 18 years old in the selected sample.
Specific Objectives
1.To give advice about Diet and Lifestyle.
2.To promote exercise.
3.To use the data for future planning.
Sample Size
- Sample size has been estimated using the formula:
n= Z2 P(1-P)
e2
- Where n= sample size, Z= level of confidence, P= baseline level of the indicators and e= margin of error.
- Given the estimated prevalence risk factors, P= 0.50, Z= 1.96 (at 95% confidence interval), e= 0.05, the initial estimated sample size would be:
- n= 1.9620.5(1-0.5)= 384
0.052
