The Sudanese society of hypertension (SSH) is an academic society ,  members are Sudanese experts in basic and clinical sciences, (cardiology, renal, neurology, endocrinology), pediatrics, community physicians, Psychologist and   nutritionist  

Objective:  The Sudanese hypertension society is an academic society which is committed   to promote the art and science for prevention and treatment of systemic hypertension and related medical diseases

Methods:–

  • Hold scientific meetings, Conferences and seminars. Newsletters, Journals. 
  • Organize and conduct educational activities designed to promote and encourage the development, advancement and exchange of scientific information in all aspects of research, diagnosis and treatment of hypertension and related medical diseases. 
  • Organize and conduct researches and projects in all fields of hypertension: basic sciences, genetics, epidemiology and clinical sciences 
  • Liaise and cooperate with other academic societies and association in the Sudan and abroad for attaining its objectives. 
  • To increase public awareness regarding the nature of hypertension, its causes, preventive measures and importance of early detection and management.
  • To increase the health authorities’ awareness regarding the magnitude of the problem and to start hypertension program in Sudan

Membership:   The society has three categories of membership: Regular , Associate and  Honorary   member.

 Any person may apply for membership provided he has one of  the following qualifications. 

(1) Regular Member must be qualified as specialist clinician or basic scientist and whose interest in his own field related to hypertension.

(2) Associate Member: Any general practitioner or technician shall be granted Associate membership subject in the decisions of the Executive office if recommended by two member of the society.

(3) Honorary Members: Will be offered by the Executive Council to special personalities medical or otherwise who in the opinion of the office will promote the objective of the society. 

Resignations: Is open all the year Any person may submit his resignation from membership in writing to the secretary or through the website 

Benefits of joining the Society

Penalties:

The executive may  terminate the membership of any member on the ground that in their reasonable opinion the member’s continued membership would be harmful to the Society

 

 

 

The president

The president of the society will be elected by direct voting in the general meeting (all members categories have the right to vote). The president should be  one of the regular member’s category.

The president will normally serve for a 2-year period and can be reelected for another period for a maximum of two periods (4 years) 

The executive office

The executive office 10 (president + 9 regular  members)

The 9 members to be elected by direct voting from the general meeting (all members categories have the right to vote). 

The president will choose 4 Executive Officers with specific responsibility for designated areas:

  • Research and training
  • Academic
  • Social and media
  • Treasury

One will be the general secretary

 4 will be office members

The executive office should serve for 2 years and can be reelected,

The Executive office has the duty of supervising the affairs of the Society, of making the necessary arrangements for all the Meeting ,research projects and other scientific activities

 This office will be chaired by the President of the Society (or nominee) and is quorum if least four members of whom one shall be the Secretary of the Society

The executive office should hold frequent meetings as necessary at least 4 times / year 

The general secretary  

The general secretary can appoint person not necessary member to help in technical issues 

The general secretary Should  : 

  • arrange and document the executive office meetings
  • be responsible for communications for effective liaison between the Society and National and international Societies of Hypertension
  • be responsible for nominations for national regional and international activities and awards
  • keep registry of all members  category

 The research and training office 

The head of the office can choose 5 members

From any member   category to work in research and training 

The research office should

  • supervise all the research proposals, projects, publications and should follow the guidelines for authorship.
  • The research office should give training on research and guidelines to all level of health care providers
  • should involve the executive office in all activities and data
  • Mentorship and training of young investigators

 The research office should meet once every month or more than that if necessary 

The academic office  

The head of the office can choose 5 members

From any member category to work in academic activities

The academic   office should supervise all the academic activities :

– highly specialized lectures by specialist     (better monthly)

  • Newsletter (quaternary) including all the scientific updates in the quaternary period and to be published soft in the website and sent by email to all member’s category and hard
  • To update and revise the Sudan guidelines for the management of systemic hypertension and its publication
  • The Sudan hypertension journal (SHJ)
  • Biannual international conference
  • Biannual national meetings
  • Mentorship and training of young investigators

– should involve the executive office in all activities

Academic   office should meet once every month or more than that if necessary 

The social and media office 

The head of the office can choose 5 members

From any member category to work in social and media office

The academic   office should arrange and supervise and cover all the society  activities :

–  The world hypertension day activities

–  update the society website

– To arrange and cover social events accompanying the   conferences and meetings

–  To arrange and cover all the society participation in other societies national, regional and international    

– should involve the executive office in all activities 

The office should meet once every month or more than that if necessary

 The treasury office 

Finances. The Society’s financial year shall run from1 January to 31 December

  • The head of the office can choose members

From any member category to help in fund raising for the society

  • The office should seek fund from governmental and nongovernmental bodies to supply the activities
  • The head of the office should have valid signature

 The advisory board.

–The Society shall be managed by the members of the advisory board, all of whom must be members of the Society.
the board shall be the Trustees of the Society they should regulate their meetings, as they think fit

 normally consist of approximately ten members

The young investigator society 

 The SSH support and encourage new young researcher. The establishment of SSH young investigators membership for graduate students and new scientists interested in hypertension and it related diseases in 2013 is a marvelous initiative. Young investigators membership provides opportunities for all new scientists within SSH to gain experience as they start their scientific career
